Causes of Diabetic Neuropathy
The causes vary according to the type of neuropathy. Anyway the nerve damage is common and may be due to a combination of factors like
Metabolic factors such as high blood glucose, long duration diabetes, abnormal blood fat levels and low level of insulin.

Symptoms of Diabetic Neuropathy
Some people with nerve damage have no symptoms. However, common symptoms are indigestion, nausea, diarrhoea or constipation, dizziness, numbness and tingling in the feet, hand, arms and fingers, problems with urination, erectile dysfunction in men or vaginal dryness in women, weakness
Peripheral Neuropathy is the most common type of neuropathy that affects the feet, legs and arms. Symptoms include sensitivity to touch, numbness, tingling or burning sensation, insensitivity hot and cold temperatures, pain or cramping
Autonomic Neuropathy affects the nerves in the heart ,lungs and eyes. The symptoms include problem with bowel and bladder function, digestion problems bowel and sexual response, and perspiration.
Focal Neuropathy results in muscle weakness or pain.
Proximal Neuropathy causes pain in the thighs, hips or buttocks that leads to weakness in the legs
